The Future Is Bright With Harbaugh’s Return

With Jim Harbaugh’s return as head coach for the Wolverines, the future of the team is definitely on the right track. Harbaugh has had a significant impact on the football program’s success. This year the Wolverines had a great regular season, going 13-1 and finishing first in the Big Ten Conference.

Although the Wolverines fell short in the playoffs, losing to TCU in the Fiesta Bowl, there were many positives highlighted throughout the season. For example, the Wolverines defeated long-time rival Ohio State for the second consecutive year. Beating Ohio State has been a struggle in the past for the Wolverines, but they marched into Ohio Stadium and won 45–23.

Jim Harbaugh’s Recruiting

A major key to Michigan’s success over the years has been Jim Harbaugh’s ability to recruit top-tier talent. Coach Harbaugh does a good job building relationships with talented players all around the country. He has been able to build a top-10 recruiting class in nearly every season with the program.

Notable Recruits In Harbaugh Era:

1. Rashan Gary- The top ranked defensive tackle in high school, and also the highest-rated recruit of the Harbaugh era.

2. Donovan Peoples-Jones- Five-star receiver and the top ranked high school receiver in Michigan.

3. Daxton Hill- Daxton was a five-star safety out of Oklahoma, and ranked number 14 in the nation.

Winning More Games

In the four years prior to Harbaugh’s arrival the football team had a combined record of 28–21. Since Jim joined the team, he has guided the Wolverines to a 61-24 record and a 43-17 record in Big Ten games. Furthermore, Coach Harbaugh has led the Wolverines to four seasons with at least ten wins, and six bowl games.

His success with the Wolverines has not gone unnoticed. In 2021, Coach Harbaugh received the AP College Football Coach of the Year award. And in 2022, Coach Harbaugh won the Big Ten Coach of the Year award.
