St. Brown vs. St. Brown

The trash talk has already begun between St. Brown brothers Equanimeous and Amon-Ra ahead of Sunday’s battle.  The two will face off at Soldier Field for the Week 10 matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears.

Equanimeous is the oldest of three brothers who have all played at the collegiate level or higher.  He plays for the Bears as a wide receiver.  Osiris, the middle brother, played football at Stanford University for four seasons. And of course, the youngest brother, Amon-Ra, who is a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions.  While that’s already impressive, their family accomplishments don’t stop there.  Their father has won two Mr. Universe and three Mr. World Championships.

The St. Brown family was a feature in this preseason series of HBO’s Hard Knocks as they featured the Detroit Lions.  Their appearance let the world into the family’s competitiveness and work ethic.  One episode even showed Equanimeous and Amon-Ra training together under the direction of their father.  Amon-Ra says their father was always finding a way to help him get better.

“That number stems from my dad, when we were young, some kid had pretty good hands, so my dad asked his father, ‘What does he do to have such good hands?’ And he goes, ‘We catch 200 passes off the JUGS machine.’ So my dad, being the dad he is, said, ‘We have to catch more.’ So, 202 was the number from that day.”

Family Feud

Sunday marks the third time the brothers will meet as NFL opponents.  Equanimeous played for the Green Bay Packers from 2018 to 2021 and is now with the Chicago Bears.  They saw each other twice last season and are expected to see each other twice this season as well.  Amon-Ra says it’s always fun for the whole family when they get to play each other.

“Whenever I play my brother it’s always super fun.  Not just football, for my family.  They all get to be there and watch us.  I’m just super excited to play him.”

Amon-Ra says his mom and dad will both be at the game on Sunday sporting their new custom split jerseys.  While it may be fun for the family, he says the trash talk started between the brothers on Tuesday.  The winner takes home the bragging rights.

“Obviously, he said he was going to beat us.  He gave me a little score prediction. I told him we were going to beat them.  We’ll see at the end of the game.”
