Detroit Lions kicker Austin Seibert will be riding the pine on the inactive’s list this weekend meaning one thing: Dominik Eberle will make his debut in Honolulu Blue.
Eberle was born in Germany before moving to Redondo Beach, California. He attended Utah State where he holds eight school records with 359 points scored, 8.34 points per game, 64 made field goals, 167 extra points made and 167 extra points attempted, and is tied for first all-time in PAT percentage at 100%. His streak of 167 consecutive PATs made is also a school record.
Eberle’s NFL Career
The 26-year-old was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free-agent in 2020. In his NFL career, Eberle has spent time with the Raiders, Panthers, Texans and most recently the Green Bay Packers. He made his NFL debut last season with the Houston Texans in Week 16. In that game he made 2 of 3 field goals against the Los Angeles Chargers, including one 51-yard completion.
Eberle was waived by the Green Bay Packers on June 13th of this year. He was signed to the Detroit Lions Practice Squad on September 9th.
With Austin Seibert out due to a groin injury, Eberle will make his debut for the Lions in this week’s matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Special Teams Coordinator Dave Fipp spoke on the possibility of Eberle playing in this game earlier in the week.
“If it comes to Eberle, maybe this is his shot, and he turns into being a great player. I believe that could happen for him and I hope it does if he gets that opportunity.”
