Detroit Lions Roster Moves Ahead of Vikings Matchup

29

The Detroit Lions announced their roster moves Saturday ahead of their Week 14 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

The big one is Chase Lucas.  The cornerback was placed on Injured Reserve after missing practice on Thursday and Friday with a Hamstring injury.  He did not play in last week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars as his name was found on the Inactives List.  Lucas was originally listed as “Out” for Sunday’s game but has now been placed on IR.

With that move, the Lions signed guard Ross Pierschbacher to the Active Roster from the Practice Squad.  Pierschbacher is a third-year veteran in the NFL.  He played five seasons of college football at Alabama before getting drafted by the Washington Redskins in the 2019 NFL Draft.  Since entering the NFL he has spent time with several different organizations including the Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, and the New York Jets.  He was signed to the Detroit Lions Practice Squad in early September of this year.

Other Roster Moves

The Lions also elevated linebacker Jarrad Davis and cornerback Jarren Williams from the Practice Squad to the Active/Inactive list.  Williams just recently signed to the Lions Practice Squad on November 29th.  He comes to the organization after being waived by the New York Giants back in August.

Romeo Okwara to Hit the Field

While he was activated last week, Romeo Okwara did not play in the Week 13 matchup with the Jaguars.  His appearance this season is one many fans have been looking forward to. Okwara is expected to suit up this Sunday against the Vikings.  It’s a move Head Coach Dan Campbell says that he is very confident in.

“I’m confident. I’m confident. He’s gone the last two days, he’s going again today. There’s been no setbacks. Every week he’s taken a little bit more practice reps, and so he’s involved, and I don’t know how many snaps he’ll get, but certainly, we see him going and having a role for us.”

Kick-off at Ford Field on Sunday is set for 1pm ET.
