Week two is in the books for the Detroit Lions, and this time, they got the win. Detroit put the Commanders away 36 to 27. Here are my takeaways:

Injuries Posed No Issues for the Detroit Lions

The Lions headed into this game with a scary injury report. They were missing three of their starting offensive lineman, forcing them to start Logan Stenberg, Dan Skipper and Evan Brown. The three dominated. They created holes and made blocks that elevated the offense immensely. It’s clear the work being done at practice is showing up in these games.

4th Down Conversion Controversy

Dan Campbell went for a touchdown on a fourth down in the first quarter instead of kicking a field goal. Many disagreed with the decision, citing injuries as the reason to not go for it. The decision to go for it with this lineup showed how much confidence he has in his players. Regardless of who was on the field, he still believed in their abilities to get the job done.

The Defense Came to Play

The Lions defense was simply unstoppable in the first half of this game. They were all over the Commanders, not allowing even a first down until late in the second quarter.The rookies, Aidan Hutchison and Malcolm Rodriguez, brought the pressure. Hutchinson had three sacks, Rodriguez had eight tackles and Will Harris came up with eight tackles and an interception.Jeff Okudah is another mention. He had several big tackles in the game. The defense was able to get to quarterback Carson Wentz five times today.

Jared Goff Looks Confident

It took some getting use to, but Jared Goff looked comfortable and confident in the pocket today. He completed passes to seven different players, attempting eight. The one player he couldn’t seem to match up with today was DJ Chark. He targeted Chark four times with no completions.

The Ceiling is High For Detroit Lions

In a game where a lot worked for the Lions, many things didn’t. There were several dropped passes and mistakes that could’ve boosted Detroit’s score tremendously.

If these things can be cleaned up, the Lions will be a force to be reckoned with. Let’s not forget the injured players we have that will also make an impact.

Electric Atmosphere

Ford Field was buzzing again this week. 57,687 fans in attendance were loud and energetic throughout the entire game.

Jared Goff
- Sets franchise record: Six-straight home games with two passing TD’s
  - This is also the longest active streak in the NFL
The Lions now have 15 straight quarters with a touchdown which is the longest active streak in the NFL.
