Lucas Raymond scored Detroit’s lone goal late in the third period on the power-play, assisted by Dylan Larkin and Moritz Seider.

Coach Lalonde talked about the Red Wings performance along with their special teams post game saying  “As a whole.. it was incredibly frustrating night…” Poor special teams and a great performance from their goalie overshadowed a pretty good five on five game for us.”

Despite going to the box three times, Detroit outshot New Jersey 33 to 26 tonight. Ville Husso made his return in goal tonight, tallying 21 saves on the night after missing time with an illness. Lalonde noted that Husso showed some rust but was not to blame for the loss “It’s a tough read..  a player being out sick you don’t get reps or touches” “He looked like wasn’t quite in rhythm.. but again it’s tough to evaluate a goalie’s performance when your shutout for 50 minutes.”

Showing what that his speed can generate offensive chances meanwhile be a real threat offensively.
