The Detroit Red Wings delivered an impressive performance against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre, shutting them out with a final score of 5-0. Ville Husso was the standout player of the game, recording 24 saves to secure his second shutout against the Canadiens this season, and his fourth of the year.

Following the game, Husso shared his thoughts on his return to the team and how he felt about getting back up to speed. “I got a good start right away. Even in practice I felt good. I was a little nervous before the game. You know you miss two weeks, you don’t play. But overall, I felt good.”

Perron’s Veteran Presence for the Red Wings’

David Perron was instrumental in the team’s success, tallying three points in the game. Perron has been on a hot streak in his last ten games, recording 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists) with a +4 goal differential. Beyond his consistency on the ice, Perron’s veteran presence and leadership have been a real asset to Detroit since joining the team. Although he may not be a part of the Red Wings’ long-term future, he is sure to leave a lasting impact during his time with the winged wheel.

Perron was queried about Detroit’s recent success, winning four of their last five games, to which he responded with. “I know it just keeps  reminding me personally and others I’m sure. If we had just won a couple games and a few more games earlier. You can think of the two Philly games, St. Louis maybe. And that’s basically only the last month or so. I think that’s something next year we gotta get that feeling, that urgency a little bit earlier.”

Coaches Comments

After the game, Head Coach Derek Lalonde commented on the Detroit Red Wings’ overall performance and how they have managed to put together a series of impressive wins.

“I loved our game from start to finish. We didn’t spend a whole lot of time in our zone cause we were getting defensive stops. But more importantly, We were just connected. Puck play out of our zone was great, and it led to some good things tonight. I thought Villie was excellent. A couple big saves early, he just looked sharp. Overall, was a  complete game. The guys are getting what they deserve and that’s piling up a lot of wins here.
