Patrick Reed Continues to be an Ass

Patrick Beverly shoving Chris Paul from behind. Claude Lemiuex hitting Kris Draper from behind. And now Patrick Reed flicking a tee at Rory McIlroy.

One may not be like the others, but in the world of golf, flicking a tee at someone can lead to throwing hands.

While on the practice range at the Dubai Desert Classic, Reed went over to say hello to fellow pro golfer McIlroy. Reed first shook hands with McIlroy’s caddie and then attempted to do the same with the world’s top golfer.

Instead, McIlroy, who was knelt next to his bag, didn’t even acknowledge Reed standing there. Reed then walked away but only got a few feet before turning back around, taking a tee out of his pocket and flicked it towards McIlroy. Pandemonium!

On surface, this scenario would make most people roll their eyes. Why would a person flicking a two-inch piece of wood at another be relevant? Mainly because these aren’t two average joes.

Reed Has Been Caught Cheating***

Reed has been caught cheating on camera in the past. In the 2019 Hero World Challenge, he removed sand behind his ball while it was in a bunker, which improves his lie and his ability to hit a good shot.

A couple of years later, he claimed his ball had been plugged into the ground after hitting a tee shot. Yet, video showed his ball had bounced once before coming to a stop. That doesn’t mean the ball could not have been embedded into the ground. Just that it’s a lot less likely if it bounced first.

Yet with all of this, Reed claimed that it was Golf Channel analysts who were influencing fans to chant mean things at him. Not his cheating, standoff-ish personality, or $15 Bud Lights.

In his lawsuit against the Golf Channel, witnesses were recently served subpoena’s. And one of those served? You guessed it, Rory McIlroy.

What would be one of the worst days to be served a subpoena?

“Yeah, I was subpoenaed by his lawyer on Christmas Eve,” McIlroy said. “So of course, trying to have a nice time with my family and someone shows up on your doorstep and delivers that, you’re not going to take that well.”

C’mon bro, Christmas Eve? Really? Where’s your holiday spirit?

Not Living in Reality***

Reed likely had no idea McIlroy was getting served on a holiday. I’m guessing he learned after the fact that the package had been delivered.

McIlroy isn’t just an incredible golfer. He’s been the leading voice of the PGA Tour in its fight against LIV. He has made it perfectly clear he does not like what LIV is doing to the game of golf.

Reed should know this. Then you have him served with a subpoena? What the hell did you expect to happen going to say hi to him.

“I’m living in reality. I don’t know where he’s living. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn’t expect a hello or a handshake,” McIlroy said when asked about the incident.

Reed is living in his own world where he lacks self-awareness. Even when he was asked about the situation, he couldn’t help but come off as a dick.

“If you’re going to act like an immature little child then you might as well be treated like one,” he said.

Patrick, what are you talking about. He is acting like an “immature little child?” Coming from the guy suing a golf analyst because you feel he influenced a random dude probably eight Coors Lights deep to yell “Everyone hates you cheater.” Also coming from same guy who is *checks facts* a known cheater.

McIlroy gave one of the best answers of all-time when asked about the incident at a later press conference.

I want to add this disclaimer: Please do not let this article influence you in yelling mean words towards Patrick Reed. He may sue us if you do.
