Lucas Raymond: No soph slump here

11

Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond has been hitting on all cylinders as of late. After some worries that a sophomore slump season may be upon us, Raymond has put the doubters to rest.

To start the season, it took Raymond seven games to score his first goal to start the year, now he sits tied with Filip Hronek for third on the Red Wings in points with 30. Lucas in his last ten games has tallied 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) with a plus-minus of +3.

Reemergence of Lucas Raymond

The reemergence of Lucas Raymond has been a pleasant sight to see after some early struggles, but what is the reasoning behind his recent success? The biggest thing for a young player like Raymond was getting out of his own head, the mental game was outweighing his skill and poise. Not to mention, the chemistry, and comfortably he has built playing alongside Dylan Larkin has played a factor in his reemergence. Dating back to last year, we’ve seen how dangerous the trio of Raymond, Larkin and Bertuzzi can be together and the production they can bring on a nightly basis. Since reuniting those three you’ve seen him play with more confidence meanwhile be more aggressive on the offensive end, generating chances. So much of what we didn’t see much of to start the year.
