Red Wings Steal Point Against the Kings

Red Wings – Kings Recap

The Detroit Red Wings fell short in OT to the Kings Monday night at LCA. Apart from this got a well deserved point thanks to none other than Captain Dylan Larkin.

Adam Erne started off what would be an eventful night for the Red Wings with a snipe to put Detroit ahead. Gabriel Vilardi answered just 19 seconds later for Los Angeles tying the game at 1-1. Adrian Kempe stayed hot for the Kings putting in his 4th goal of the year to head into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead.

Red Wings’ David Perron found the back of the net twice, tallying three points total on the night. He would get his night started with a one timer, assisted by Dominik Kubalik. Along with scoring, Detroit’s first power play goal later in the third period.

Captain Dylan Larkin made what some may a call play of the year just three games in. Larkin made a desperation dive to save an empty netter that would eventually force OT when Oskar Sundqvist scored his first of the year with 41 seconds left in the 3rd.

Kings’ Phillip Danault would later score in overtime with a pass deflected off Filip Hronek to end the night at LCA.

Larkin Earning the Extension

Detroit will have some decisions to make in the coming future regarding Dylan Larkin. Larkin has taken a tremendous step forward as a leader since taking over as Captain. Coming off debatably his best season for Detroit, Dylan has shown no signs of slowing down, displaying endless effort and heart through 3 games. Coach Lalonde spoke on Larkin’s point saving play “He never gave up on the play, It’s a good message”.

The Red Wings next game is down at the United Center against the Blackhawks on Friday.
